Building Trust in AI: Government, Industry and Innovators Join Forces for Responsible AI Adoption

Scale AI Investment Announcement

TORONTO, December 17, 2025 — Industry leaders, innovators, and public-sector representatives convened today through Scale AI to announce a collaborative initiative bringing together leading enterprises, vetted AI innovators, and ecosystem partners to advance responsible AI adoption and applied innovation across global enterprise environments.

As part of this broader initiative, Unilever, one of the world’s leading consumer goods companies, is collaborating with NovaceneAI to leverage agentic AI workflows to deliver measurable business value while supporting efficiency and sustainability objectives across complex global operations.

The collaboration brings together Horizon3 AI Labs—Unilever’s global AI innovation hub—NovaceneAI, a select group of vetted AI innovators, and Scale AI—Canada’s innovation cluster for artificial intelligence. Together, these organizations aim to strengthen applied AI capabilities, accelerate experimentation, and promote responsible deployment practices that balance innovation with trust, transparency, and human oversight.

Through this collaboration, Unilever and NovaceneAI are applying agentic AI workflows to unlock measurable impact across key business areas. Initial efforts are focused on procurement, where unstructured data is being leveraged to improve forecasting accuracy and reduce manual effort, supporting efficiency and sustainability goals. The partnership also establishes a foundation for applying these capabilities to additional functions over time as use cases are validated and aligned with business priorities.

Scale AI emphasized the importance of the ecosystem’s mission: “When Scale AI was created, we had a dual mission—to help companies adopt AI to solve the productivity issue, and at the same time, to help Canada build an AI industry.” Scale AI chief executive Julien Billot said. “Today’s announcement of $128 million across 44 projects is a great example of this dual mission we have at Scale AI”.

“Scale AI’s work is about taking AI out of the lab and into the economy, so people can see how it serves them.” said AI and Digital Innovation Minister Evan Solomon. “Turning AI into real solutions that serve Canadians and serve customers around the world and create great jobs.”

Unilever underscored the strategic value of working with trusted AI partners, including NovaceneAI: “Driving responsible AI adoption at scale requires more than technology. It demands a strong ecosystem of trusted partners. Through Horizon3 AI Labs, we’re proud to collaborate with NovaceneAI, Scale AI, and other innovators to accelerate experimentation and deliver enterprise-ready solutions. By combining technical depth with shared principles of trust, transparency, and sustainability, this initiative demonstrates how industry and innovators can work together to unlock measurable impact across global operations.” said Jenn MacLean, AI Partnerships Lead, Horizon3 AI Labs, Unilever.

“We see this collaboration as a unique opportunity to align our product strategy with the scaling challenges of a global organization like Unilever,” said Marcelo Bursztein, CEO of NovaceneAI. “By combining Unilever’s market leadership with our expertise in orchestrating explainable agentic workflows, we can help translate complex qualitative data into tangible business outcomes.”

The initiative will leverage the NovaceneAI Platform to automate the preparation of unstructured data for AI, orchestrate explainable agentic AI workflows, and enable business-expert supervision to support trust-based adoption of AI across the company.
